This is wonderful. The depth of the primary sources, added in with the silly-to-really-not-at-all-silly parts of the source, break my heart in all the right ways.

An outstanding idea, and absolutely chilling. Perfect concept for the fourth series.

Oh, wow, that was brilliant. Every single Flashheart clip is gold! I love use of all the propaganda &c, it was especially wrenching in that last chorus. And the song choice is so perfect for Goes Forth, with the generally light-hearted tone but the sense of futility is reflected in the lyrics and it's just so well done, I love it.

Thank you. The song was the hardest part - it turns out it's quite difficult to find a happy fun song about a lot of people being shot for no reason. I'm guessing this is one of the reasons this series is a rare fandom.

I loved the "load up!" bits with Lord Flashheart. It's really cool how you added all the posters, too--I especially liked, "Daddy, what did you doing the Great War?" and the pensive guy thinking about killing people with a bayonet. It heightens the satire of the show so much to add these bits.

I like that you like that poster, because it's the one that gave me the idea for the vid. When I saw it, at first I took it to mean what it means in the vid: the guy is remembering hurting people or being hurt himself. After realizing that, no, on the contrary, he's supposed to feel bad about *not* going to war, I read the caption and it said that this poster was a famous one because the message was instantly clear and emotionally effective. Well... not to me it wasn't. It got me thinking how, to us, this stuff doesn't even work as propaganda anymore - our preconceptions have changed so much, either your brain goes into joke mode or it's just tragic. So when I saw Blackadder requested, that turned into a vid.

That is really cool--I can see how the poster can be read both ways, but I prefer your reading for storytelling purposes.

Perfect perfect tone, just the same as the 4th series, between the silly and the horrible - and the posters are inspired, and brilliantly used

Great vid, and you really captured the somber tone beneath the chuckles that was season 4. The Flashheart pelvic thrusts had me LOL :0)

Thank you. I actually had to cut out a lot of Flashheart I put in on the first pass, because he was just hogging the screen. That's Flashheart for you.

Such a powerful vid! Drives home the brilliant & at times chilling critique that was Black Adder, with the propaganda images woven in giving extra punch and context. Plus, perfect ending. Wonderful work.

That was really perfect for the source, and fantastic choice of song. You really chose the clips well for it, too, hit some great moments and matched it up fantastically. The mixing in of the propaganda posters and the bits of original art towards the end was indeed inspired. It hit that perfect mix of satire and critique, humour and bitter sadness that ran through that series. The ending was truly perfect, too. It gave me so many feelings.

If you're interested, the black and white drawings at the end were done during the war by an Italian artist called F. Matania, for British weekly The Sphere; there are many more of them online.

That's a relief, because that part wasn't so much editing as taking what I had and sticking it in a row. The problem was that most of the shows intro had the actors' names all over it, so the footage you see is really all the usable footage there is.
