Lyrics
Human beings in a mob
What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a god?
What’s a god to a non-believer?
Who don’t believe in anything?

We make it out alive
All right, all right
No church in the wild

Tears on the mausoleum floor
Blood stains the coliseum doors
Lies on the lips of a priest
Thanksgiving disguised as a feast
Rollin’ in the Rolls-Royce Corniche
Only the doctors got this, I’m hidin’ from police
Cocaine seats
All white like I got the whole thing bleached
Drug dealer chic
I’m wonderin’ if a thug’s prayers reach
Is Pious pious cause God loves pious?
Socrates asks, “Whose bias do y’all seek?”
All for Plato, screech
I’m out here ballin’, I know y’all hear my sneaks
Jesus was a carpenter, Yeezy, laid beats
Hova flow the Holy Ghost, get the hell up out your seats
Preach

Human beings in a mob
What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a god?
What’s a god to a non-believer?
Who don’t believe in anything?

We make it out alive
All right, all right
No church in the wild

I live by you, desire
I stand by you, walk through the fire
Your love is my scripture
Let me into your encryption

Sunglasses and Advil
Last night was mad real
Sun comin’ up, 5 a.m.
I wonder if they got cabs still
Thinkin’ ’bout the girl in all-leopard
Who was rubbin’ the wood like Kiki Shepard
Two tattoos, one read “No Apologies”
The other said “Love is cursed by monogamy”
That’s somethin’ that the pastor don’t preach
That’s somethin’ that a teacher can’t teach
When we die, the money we can’t keep
But we probably spend it all ’cause the pain ain’t cheap
Preach

Human beings in a mob
What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a god?
What’s a god to a non-believer?
Who don’t believe in anything?

We make it out alive
All right, all right
No church in the wild

That was incredible! I really liked the way you intercut the paintings with the show footage. And the thematic sections were just fantastic, and the technical artistry, wow.

The intercutting and repeated imagery made this really interesting to watch.

Hot damn, this vid goes above and beyond! You manage to say so much about these people, this time period, and about human behaviour generally, all on top of a brilliant song choice and impeccable technical work.

Whoaaa. Never seen the show, but I feel like the first 45 seconds set up everything I needed to know about what I was going to see: the pulling down of the cross, the axe blow at :42 that turns into the drop of coins into the palm of a bishop(?). Dang. And the way both the song and the pace of the edits keep everything racing along -- fantastic and intense.

Just fantastic. The recurring images, the pairing with the lyrics, the theme, all of it.

Woah, this is a really powerful vid. There's so much here! I enjoy the sexy parts of the Tudors as much as anyone, but I love that this vid draws out the other aspects of Henry's reign and time as well. The children being overlaid with their portraits and eventual reputations worked really well, too.

That was pretty damn amazing! And the refrain from that song - tailor made for The Tudors.

Wow, this is FANTASTIC. I was never able to get past the first season of the show, but I know the history. This is stunning, and powerful, and probably one of the best (and most surprising!) match-ups of visuals and music that I've ever seen.

So flawless, especially if you know Henry VIII's relevance to religion in England. Perfect song choice, really smartly cut and gripping.

I haven't actually seen this particular show, but holy crap, this is relentless. Amazing, but rather tough to watch at times, no punches pulled here. I love the frame you used, with the horse and Death riding, and the flash cuts, and the use of the real portraits at the end.
