Welcome to the jungle

We’ve got fun and games

We’ve got everything you want

Honey, we know the names

We are the people who can find

Whatever you may need

If you’ve got no money, honey

We’ve got your disease

In the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

Watch it bring you to your knees

Welcome to the jungle

You take it day by day

If you want it, you’re gonna bleed

But it’s the price you pay

And you’re a very sexy girl

Very hard to please

You can taste the bright lights

But you won’t get in for free

In the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

I wanna watch you leave

Welcome to the jungle

It gets worse every day

You learn to live like an animal

In the jungle where we play

And you’ve got to hunger for what you see

You take it eventually

You can have anything you want

But you better not take it from me

In the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

I wanna watch you leave

And when you’re high

You never, ever want to come down

And when you’re high

You never, ever want to come down

Welcome to the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

Welcome to the jungle

I wanna watch you leave

This was a really cool vid. I've never seen such a bittersweet take on Singin' in the Rain, all the pure, sweet highs of their life in the industry, but also all of the caveats and catches. *_*

This is an amazing vid; I've not seen a vid for this source before that covered this part of the story so well.

This is FANTASTIC! Like [personal profile] thirdblindmouse said, it was really cool to see a Singin' in the Rain vid that had an edge to it. The highs section with all the OT3 goodness is my favourite, but I adore what you did with all of the less glamorous parts of Hollywood life. Great work!

Isn't there a saying, something like "Hollywood will eat you alive"? This is brilliant, wistful and sad in parts but strong all the way through.

This is excellent. A surprisingly--and effectively--serious take on a very lighthearted movie. Really well done!

Oh, wow, I loved this so much. The song choice was inspired, and there were so many fantastic lyric-scene match-ups. I loved how you set up the Hollywood scene in the first part—it sets the stage perfectly for the move to Kathy’s career development, which is something I super wanted out of a vid! The middle part, with the pressures of the film world and the conflicts between the characters, was such a good look at the less upbeat aspects of the movie. The OT3 interlude made me smile again, but I liked that that giddiness sort of faltered at the end of it, which tied it back tonally to the darker parts of the vid. This was so atmospheric and satisfying, thank you so much!

VIDDER. This vid is...dang. I am starry eyed at every single thing you did with this. As others have said, the way you pulled out the bittersweet and darker themes of the movie and brought them so forcefully forward here is marvelous. And then that light and happy middle-end bit! Woah. You've truly reconstructed the canon here for me, or highlighted what's always been there but I've been happy to overlook. And your musical sense is killer. My goodness, when the lights come on to the piano trill at about 1:02? I got CHILLS. And you do a lot of subtle but super rewarding things like that throughout (Cosmo doing the backflip off the wall, the way you used the string interlude with the dancing scenes). Standing ovation for you, vidder. This vid is amazing.

Wow. WOW. "You won't get in for free," indeed. TBM used the word "bittersweet," which is just what I was thinking of too; the happy interlude in the middle -- "you never, ever want to come down" -- becomes almost unbearably poignant when it's framed by the rest of the song (what a perfect cover, oh my goodness) and the characters' struggle with the behind-the-scenes grind of industry life.

It's been a long time since I saw a vid that made me see the source material in a completely new way. Thank you.

Wow this vid is stunningly beautiful and made me cry and yet it's still so happymaking. I love the song choice and how you use the change in the music SO WELL with the beautiful joyful dancing section. That section becomes so much more poignant when surrounded by all the hardship she experiences and man, the lyrics fit so well there. Definitely one of my favorite festivids this year, I love it!

What a lovely vid - I felt like you vidded all the parts of Singin' In the Rain that we don't think about or remember. Really subtle work here. And choosing a PMJ song was purely inspired - such a great way to get a modern twist-feeling on a classic musical.
