Oh god, Bubbles. Oh, my heart. This is the perfect character study for a character who had such a wrenching, difficult, ultimately hopeful journey. I think what I love about this the most is how much you drew in the support he needed, especially how much of Walon there is and how persistently there Walon was, watching Bubbles fail and waiting for him to be ready. No I changed my mind, my favorite part is the recurring imagery of Bubbles trying, how he goes to a meeting with Johnny at the beginning and it doesn't stick, how he has to hit bottom with Johnny and Sherrod, and then how much time you spent on the little steps back; serving at the soup kitchen, the meetings, his sister. It's just such a perfect combination with the ideas in the song of calling upon something outside yourself.
I also love the recurring imagery of his sister and how one thing he has to do is earn that trust back, and how you show that he does have to earn it. And then he does. After the finale (among many other feelings), I basically wanted to curl up in a ball and smile and cry because BUBBLES GOT TO GO UPSTAIRS AND HAVE DINNER and that's how I feel at the end of this. This is wonderful.
