This is really, really great. In so many ways TNG really screwed up with the way it handled it's child characters, but you've done such a great job here of showing what it did really well--the emotions of the parent/child relationship.

I always think of DS9 as being the better Trek for parenting stuff - because the families are a little more erm, functional. This vid was really eye opening to see how much family really was an issue of TNG, and how well it could do it at times. (As well as... man, some real corkers in there. Oh well.)

I watched this with metatxt and she said something really amazing that I totally agree with: we love this vid because TNG takes us back to our own childhoods when it was airing -- we feel like it raised us fannishly, like it took care of us, so this vid about caretaking nostalgically takes us back there. And we enjoyed that feeling. :)
