This is SO wonderful. I'm going to have to watch it lots to appreciate all of the small details and beautiful editing, but it's an amazing song choice and made me feel all the feelings. I love how much you capture the story here - the initial difficulties followed by all the joyful success, and kids falling in love with the show and how totally great Verity and Waris were. <3333 I LOVE IT THANK YOUUUU.

Lovely song choice. Without knowing the source and context, the song alone tells me a lot about the source.

Cool credits too.

Thank you! I'm really glad to hear that it works coherently without any context. That song was a gift.

And I was very pleased with the credits - so thank you!

I haven't actually seen the source (just a few seasons of Doctor Who) but I found this lovely! Great job!

Thank you! And you should totally watch it, if you can get hold of it. It's only 90 minutes, and it's a really lovely tribute to the show's origins.

Oh it's PERFECT. It's just perfect. My heart skipped a beat at the final closing shot of "Producer: Verity Lambert".

<3 Thank you, lovely Ionaface. (I'm really pleased that ending seemed to work - as Jenni will tell you, I agonised about those last 20 seconds of music for ages)

You've done such a beautiful job of capturing Verity and the drive she added to get the show off the ground. Wonderful woman pushing through at a difficult time, all captured right there in the vid.

Thank you so much! Verity Lambert was so amazing, omg. I ended up watching a documentary about her whilst making this, in the quest for more photos of her on set. She was super impressive.

What a determined and apropos piece of music! I love your build and the weaving of the story of DW's rise due to Lambert's influence. :)

Ohh, this is just so lovely - inspired song choice and such a beautiful tribute to Verity and Waris. Loved how you were able to show their obstacles and their triumph so clearly with such limited footage to work with. And loved the use of the real photos at the end!

Thank you! <3 I'm really glad you enjoyed it. This was such a wonderful film to come out of the 50th anniversary celebrations, and I was so happy to get the chance to vid it. VERITY AND WARIS. They were both pretty amazing.

I haven't seen the source, but I really understood Verity & Waris's struggle to get Doctor Who made (and I loved their hug/dance), and I loved the little girl dressed as a Dalek, and the final shot gave me chills. Great editing throughout.

Oh this was just beautiful. <3 I hadn't seen this movie but the story rang through so clearly. I love your focus on Lambert, and the way they both push against the odds - not least as outsiders in a white-male-dominated world - to get the show made. Their determination and triumph is so moving and matched so well with the (klezmer!) song. The sequence at 2:16 was wonderful. All of it is wonderful!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad it worked for you emotionally, despite not having seen the source. (You should, if you can. It's only 90 minutes and it's lovely) And I'm glad you liked the song! I've wanted to vid it for a while, but it had to be for the right person. As a young Jewish woman fighting to get things done in an old white man's world, Verity felt like the right person :-)

This is great. The editing is spot-on (the flash to Matt Smith was perfectly used), and the way you build through the repeating of the lyrics is wonderful. I need to see the source!

Thank you so much! I was really pleased with that section with Matt Smith in, so I'm really happy to hear it worked. You should definitely watch the film if you can! It's lovely.

Oh, I adore the song choice for this! Your way of framing the vid is wonderful, with the Who intro and the b/w at the beginning and the photographs and the inspired last shot at the end. It also puts us firmly into the POV of the people who fought to get the show off the ground, while showing us what it is they are creating at the same time, the magic in it, through the clips you chose for the bridges on 1:02 and 2:12: first the show itself coming to life and then how it speaks to people and means something to them. So so lovely.
purplefringe: Amelie (Default)

[personal profile] purplefringe 2016-02-13 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
<333 What a lovely comment, thank you so much. I'm really pleased the framing worked for you - I really wanted to show the legacy and lasting impact of the show in some way, but it was really hard to do that. I considered using later clips from the show, but was worried it would then become more about the actors than the behind the scenes creators. I hope the photos and things worked instead. And I loved all the bits in the film about the show taking on a life of its own - the scene with the kids being Daleks on the bus made me cry, the first time I watched it. So thank you!

I don't know the source, so at first I thought this was about Delia Derbyshire. But no! There's another lady doing her part in the creation of Doctor Who!

I loved the music and I must watch the source now. A wonderful vid!
purplefringe: Amelie (Default)

[personal profile] purplefringe 2016-02-13 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
There was! Verity Lambert! A Jewish woman! :-D :-D She was pretty awesome. Delia Derbyshire does have a tiny cameo in the show (plus a slightly longer scene that was cut but is on the DVD) but yes - multiple women behind the scenes of DW! You should definitely watch it if you can - it's only 90 minutes.

Thanks for the comment!

Thank you! I'm really glad it was enjoyable even with no knowledge of the context. It's a great little 90 minute drama about the origins of DW, and if you're a Who fan at all it's definitely worth watching.
