Do you ever watch a vid and go "This is really good, it's really telling this story well" and you can't tell why? (Maybe that's just me, I'm a watcher, not a vidder.) I really like this vid, I love the story it's telling, and I haven't even seen this far into TWW (I'm not a fan of anyone who isn't named CJ), but this vid really works for me. I find myself really wanting to know the whole story, but feeling like I know what the gist of it is.
This feels very powerful. I haven't seen the later seasons of TWW, so I'm coming at this without knowing the source, but as soon as I'd watched it through, I hit replay. So much tension and suspicion, brilliantly conveyed. Wow!
A Hoynes vid! Fantastic -- wonderful song choice for him. I love the "paper covers" theme and the sinister touch. Almost makes me feel for the bastard.
Powerful edits. I loved the juxtaposition of the orange rolling with Hoynes walking out. You managed to make the passing of information visual and interesting, which is one of the big challenges of vidding this fandom.
I had to watch it twice before I could comment - I feel like the fandom was really missing a good vid about Hoynes and didn't know it until I opened this. You did a really good job making sure CJ and Toby got their 'say' - I know I would have been tempted to do a video just about Josh and Hoynes. Good job with all of that.
I'm kind of lost for words here. Between the editing and the song choice you've managed to pull of something extraordinary. You've brought Hoynes into focus in a most unexpected way and still managed to bring across just how complicated his role in the story line is. It's so rare to see vids that capture the complexity of the show without becoming confusing. Great work!
I need to watch this again to really get everything down (esp because I haven't watched the later seasons), but this is really powerful and makes me feel for a character I never gave much thought to in canon.
Wow, that really captured the difficulties of everything Hoynes (and his downfall and attempted rise) meant. The music worked really well to drive it forward. Nicely done.
Wow, this is good. Secrets, lies, and disclosure thereof, or maybe not. I so need to rewatch this at least five more times to get it all, but this is brilliant.
I really like your use of clips which aren't of the characters -- the rolling ball, Hoynes' resignation letter, the cover of the book -- those break up the interpersonal stuff in a really interesting way.
