So, I've never seen Deadwood. But, if it is anything like as gritty, violent, dark, and character-driven as it looks here (western that is not made in the seventies!), I WANT ALL OF IT. Somebody please tell me it is exactly this awesome.

Also, that song choice was incredible. I am definitely going to look up that artist now.

Deadwood is all of the adjectives you apply to it, times a million. It's beautiful and heartbreaking, and I only managed to make use of the first season (there are three). The Kills are also gritty, violent, dark, and well worth looking up.

I haven't seen this so I'm sure tons of stuff is going over my head, but this was so engaging to watch anyway. Such an amazing song choice and the mood and build of the whole thing is great!

I'm a little disappointed that I only managed to use the first season (I clipped the whole series in a broad-strokes pass, but ran out of time before I got it all trimmed down more specifically and had to adapt). Even so, there are a lot of fascinating characters to play with, and I'm deeply relieved that I was able to keep things clear enough.

Wonderful video! Beautifully edited; it really pulled me in, and reminded me how compelling Deadwood is. Loved the song choice and the way you worked with it in terms of editing and pacing. Somehow it kept me feeling off kilter and yet pulled along for the ride.

Golly, did I not comment when I first saw this? It's been running in my mind ever since. I didn't know the music, but that remorseless pounding is perfect for Deadwood. Now I hope you'll find something just as good for the second and third seasons!
