Lyrics
there’ll be a fire burning
in the temple of our peace
there’ll be a soaring voice for our silent pleas
we will hold our broken circle and begin to pray
we will find a black and white in the gray

and we will be as one god
and we will be as one people

we will find illumination in unnatural light
you will travel a thousand miles without leaving my sight
we will find we never knew hatred ran so deep
such a wide, wide chasm of faith to leap

but we will be as one god
and we will be as one people

there will be an evolution of the human soul
we will know that be a part is to be truly whole
we will know the pattern of centuries rise and fall
we will know that the fate of one is the fate of all

and we will be as one god
and we will be as one people

YOU USED MY KRYPTONITE. UNFAIR. BY WHICH I MEAN AMAZING. Oh god, A+ use of Vienna Teng, what an amazing song choice. And just, a;lsdkjals, I am verklempt and can't make good mouth right now but this is so exactly what I wanted and eeeeeee. SO MANY FEELINGS I LOVE EVERYONE and the emphasis of connection and change and love pretty much destroyed me. <3333 Thank you so much!

How do you capture the essence of such a complex movie in a single vid? I've got no clue but clearly, unknown vidder, you have the knack.

Oh, holy wow. This is gorgeous. The motion of this vid, the emotion of this vid -- the repeated use of the quill on the sheet music, of the score, of the manuscript -- and ending with the birthmark, the birthmark, the birthmark. WOW.

Thank you! I love the book as well, and I'm glad you could still follow this. (The movie makes a few changes -- mostly cutting and simplifying the individual stories -- but I feel like it remains very true to the spirit of the book.)

OMG. I DON'T HAVE WORDS FOR HOW AWESOME THIS IS. Let me try to find words, past the frog in my throat and the sand that's wandered into my eyes. All the connections, all the relationships and parallels and moments and emotions that hook and tie people together, so beautifully shown. When the violence came in, it had been held back for so long the impact was that much more heartbreaking. But oh, the reconciliation after was all the more refreshing, as if to reenforce the connections we knew, and to make others. And then the star marks, and then THE STARS IN THE SKY holy crap what a way to end. I love this so, so much.

Oh, this is so, so lovely. I saw Cloud Atlas in theaters but never read the book; immediately after watching the vid the first time I decided that I really wanted to understand the story, and I worked through the Wikipedia summaries of first the film and then the novel. And then I watched the vid again, and it was EVEN MORE AMAZING than it was already -- this is such a beautiful, complex vid to a very complicated source. The handshake in the elevator between Sixsmith and Luisa Rey actually made me hold my breath; it's such a gorgeous use of that little lingering pause in the song. As soon as this is downloadable it will totally live in my Vids to Keep Forever folder.

Wow, thank you! The book is very much worth the read -- I do think the film does a good job of capturing the spirit of it, but there's so much more depth to the novel. And, yes, very complex indeed, so I'm glad this worked for you!

Oh goodness. This. This is just so beautiful and brilliant I don't really know what to do with myself. You have taken everything that's moving and complex and wonderful in the book, and put it in here, in seamless harmony with the music. The use of the handshake during the lull in the song, the timing of everything, all the parallels and the lingering looks and the way you draw out so many relationships in such a short space of time. This is so perfect. <3

I only know the book, but I have to say this song is perfect for it. I appreciated the way you constructed this out of interconnections of joy and despair, sex and death. Well done.

This is beautiful. The song works so well for the themes of the film and worked well with the clip choices - an impressive whole from a kalaedoscopic canon.
