This was fantastic! I loved the focus on Hamilton himself and felt the vocal was a great match to his energy/drive/passion.

It seemed like there were some vidder-added close-ups on Hamilton, which really helped keep us focused on him.

(That gorgeous cast can be a distraction!)

EXACTLY. That was one of the lines that made me say WELL I GUESS I FOUND MY SONG, HUH.

Interestingly, the unsigned version did NOT have any added closeups (though I did a bit of scaling in the signed version to get rid of logos, etc.). But I did do fairly extensive color work in this vid, way more than my usual boost-the-contrast and fix-skin-tones tweaking, and one of the effects I experimented with was making the background cooler and darker, which makes the characters in front -- i.e., Hamilton -- "pop" more. I wasn't sure anyone would notice, but OF COURSE YOU DID. ♥

It hurt to cut it down, but there was just not enough footage for the full song.

And the song itself is SO GREAT for vidding -- I mean, obviously the lyrics are great for A.Ham, but also, as you note, the variations in pace and instrumentation keep it musically interesting and provide some breathing room. Fantastic vid. I love the song, and the way you matched actions to the beat and lyrics was just great. The bit where Hamilton flips up his coat! The chest smack exactly on-beat! It's especially impressive since this is such a difficult source to vid, with so little footage and all the movement already set to completely different music.
