Lyrics
We were at the beach

Everybody had matching towels

Somebody went under a dock

And there they saw a rock

It wasn't a rock

It was a rock lobster

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

Motion in the ocean

His air hose broke

Lots of trouble

Lots of bubble

He was in a jam

He's in a giant clam

Rock, rock

Rock lobster

Down, down

Here comes a stringray

There goes a manta ray

In walked a jelly fish

There goes a dogfish

Chased by a catfish

In flew a sea robin

Watch out for that piranha

There goes a narwhal

Here comes a bikini whale

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

Rock lobster

I love this SO MUCH.

The song choice is perfect for the creepy surreal silliness of this movie. Also "There they saw a rock" kills me. So does "He's in a giant clam." And "Watch out for that parahna." It's all hilarious, and the editing is flawless.

I love the editing on this with all the imagery. Gotta watch this movie now.

Holy f**k. HOLY F**K. So the surf riff kind of plays with the "Scooby-Doo on Acid" vibe of the movie. And the ridiculousness of the lyrics give you so much space for some truly inspired visual matches. And some very silly ones, too. It took the second viewing to catch the "Down, down" thing. Stealth pun! or maybe not that stealthy, I haven't had much sleep.

Also, just generally amazing cutting and use of the surreal-as-fuck imagery. Singing skeleton at 1:20 owns my soul.

So wrong it's right. Just when I thought the vid was going to taper off, something would come in like the sequence of spit-take-worthy sound effect matches with the vomiting cat and the opening/closing drawers. A+!

What the hell was that? I have no clue what that movie was, but this vid is mesmerizing.

I understand nothing, but that was one hell of a trip.

This is AMAZING. It captures the movie's bizarreness whilst being perfectly constructed and I am just in awe of how good it is. So so good.

I have no idea what this movie is, but this vid is fantastic. I love how you matched nonsensical lyrics to bizarre images. Man the visuals of this movie and vid are kind of fantastic.

... in hindsight, this was always the perfect song for this movie, wasn't it?

Fantastic, amazing, terrific job, super well done!

Wow wow wow I feel like I just dropped some acid. Don't know anything about this movie but this is an oddly cheerful vid. The vidder seems to be having a blast and takes us along for the ride.

I don't know if you know this, o anonymous vidder, but about five years ago, I made an Evil Dead vid to Love Shack by The B-52s (so did sol_se -- synchronicity is funny). This feels very much like a companion piece, since it's also a B-52s song over footage depicting a group of young people who travel to an old house where extremely effed up things happen to them.

However, in this case, the source is 1000% more screwy and you have matched that utterly (it doesn't hurt that Rock Lobster is a much weirder song than Love Shack). Whether the parallels were intentional or coincidental, it adds another layer of enjoyment to this vid which was already nearly toppling over with them.

This vid is absolute PERFECTION! The insanity of the source matches the insanity of the song so well, it's as if they were meant to be vidded together. Your lyrical interpretation had me LOLing so much ("giant clam") and just everything you chose to do in this vid was honestly genius. I need this to play at Club Vivid so hard! This is totally a companion piece to Love Shack (previously mentioned) and basically solidifies that from now on if you're vidding a crazy/campy 70's/80's cultish source, it must be to a B-52's song!

IAN, NOW THAT I KNOW IT'S YOU, YOU HAVE TO PUT THIS IN CLUB VIVID! (And Love Shack!) YOU MUST, MUST, MUST!!!

This is stunning. And it makes sense, somehow, which... I'm not at all sure how you managed that. *is agog at the wonder of it*

This is GREAT! (I was very excited to see that there were THREE Hausu vids this year, and they all rocked in very different ways.)
