OMG Festividder I'm in tears here! I love this and it was just the fabulous feminist war cry I needed right now. I was here for this from the moment those slithery, sliding demeaning panels (beautifully done - I love the motion and momentum you worked in here) erupted into Kamau on "Who the fuck do you think I is?" Btw awesome song choice, turning a song of personal emancipation into a larger statement much like Lemonade. I really like how you introduce everyone so even if you haven't read the comics you get a succinct overview. You do such an amazing job of weaving everyone's story in here and building the escalating resistance until that ending - oh I love every single bit of that ending! There's so much here that all works so well and I love it all so it's hard to pick out any one thing but every shot of Kamau, all the resistance bits on "don't hurt yourself/don't play yourself," "beautiful man i know you're lyin" and the aftermath, and "love God herself" (ugh the foreshadowing on that). This is fucking amazing in both technique and message; I'm cheering, fired up and ready to go. This is a vid that will sustain me in dark days and thank you so much for making it!

This is amazing! This is such an effective way of vidding comics, incorporating both the words and images, and using the motion to juxtapose or highlight bits to really bring out the meaning. Words are hard, but this really transforms the medium of comics into a vid format in seamless way. It just works so well!

This was one of the first of this year's crop of festivids that I watched, and I was blown away, but I'm only now getting around to commenting because I wasn't sure I could find the words for what I love about it. The movement, the masking, weaving the character's individual stories into the song and the bigger picture of oppression and resistance. Definitely one I'm going to rewatch many times!

I absolutely love the song choice here and how you show what the source is about with the emotion in it while using effects in a great way to make it more visually dynamic.

This is SO beautifully done. I love how you weave together all the elements from the comic - there's a sense of flipping through pages in the way you've animated the still images and put them together, and it gives a wonderful feeling of diving into the book. Amazing song choice and beautiful transitions from oppression to power for all of these complex characters. What a beautiful rallying cry. :D

I really love this - I only have a vague sense of the source but this is still a really powerful vid without all of the context. And what a great use of the song!

I'm another one of those who hasn't read the source material, but daaaaamn I want to now. This is so visceral and intense and emotional, I teared up a few times not even really knowing what was going on. The editing on this is spectacular, especially with such a challenging task as vidding for a comic. And the song is completely perfect, holy shit, I love it.
