OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

Okay, first of all, like, seriously so many apologies for not commenting sooner! The thing is, I hadn't seen most of season 2 when festivids went live yesterday. So my first reaction was "OMG I GOT A HOMELAND VID, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT," followed immediately by "OMG I GOT A HOMELAND VID AND I CAN'T ACTUALLY WATCH IT, BECAUSE WHAT IF GET SPOILERED FOR SEASON 2 BY IT?!" So I spent today marathoning season 2 of Homeland. There are worse ways to spend a day, really. Well, turns out I was worried for nothing and I could have simply skipped all that and could have watched the vid directly yesterday. But you know what? I'm kind of glad I didn't, because after spending seven hours with this show, I'm in a total Homeland state-of-mind and it makes me appreciate this vid even more, if that's possible. And I was so psyched to finally be able to watch your vid and NOW I AM ALL OVERCOME WITH FEELINGS I CAN'T EVEN, LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT!

Let's start with your song choice! Because let's start with PERFECTION, why don't we! The lyrics are so perfectly Carrie, I can't get over how well they fit. With the colour coding, and the symbolysm. And then you often have the problem that the lyrics fit, but the mood of the song, or the genre doesn't. But not here, not here. ♥

The "Two of us make it easier to read the signs" bit made me clutch my heart. And yes, Saul will play with Carrie, because he doesn't know how to say no to her. And he also knows better than to not give her a chance, he cares so deeply. ♥ And then we're at one with our countdown, and it's Carrie unraveling and going off on her own and I thought going with the clip of that one pill for that part of the lyrics was so perfect, just completely on target.

The interlude with the actual building of the collage was beautiful. I loved how you stiched that together. Saul creating a clear narrative of Carrie's pieces, overlayed with the visuals of Brody's backstory in Iraq. Especially when Saul is going through the paper and then there's the symetry of Brody and Issa washing their hands for prayer.

And then the last verse, with the price Carrie and Saul have to pay for their job and for being so completely invested in it, that they forget to take care of themselves and of those around them. ♥

Your selection of clips and your narrative were so beautiful, and it just worked perfectly with the music.

I love the relationship Saul and Carrie have with each other. How he's her mentor, but also a caregiver. How she is looking to him for direction, but also giving him the push neccesary for him to act. How completely they believe in one another, and how devastated they are, when the other can't possibly live up to the high expectations they have for one another, since they both are so very flawed. And you encapsulated this so perfectly in your vid, that this is the first time that I actually found the words to express that.

Thank you so much for this vid, it is all I could have wished for and I couldn't be happier! And I am really sorry for making you wait and I hope you are not too mad at me for it.
