Lyrics
Show me a smile on your silly face
‘cause I'm getting tired of this human race
My darling...

The eyes of a child as I went away
And how many heroes have we killed today?
I can fly higher than an aeroplane
And I have the voice of a thousand hurricanes
My darling...

Men of destruction reap iniquity
While heroes of courage die with dignity
And how many weapons did I help create?
And how many lives will it devastate?
My darling...

I think of all the days in my life
Where I could have done something more
‘cause I remember the days in my life
Where I could have done something more
There is never a day that goes by
That's a good day to die
Please open your eyes
To the millions of lives
That will senselessly die in our wars

I think of all the days in my life
Where I could have done something more
Yea, I remember the days in my life
Where I should have done something more
There was never a day that goes by
That's a good day to die
Please open your eyes, Oh
There was never a day that went by
That's a good day to die
Won't you please close your eyes?
For the millions of lives...
Who have senselessly died in a war.

Completely unexpected (in a good way). The editing on this is fantastic! I love how the action hits just the right notes and the overall tone is so well matched.

This is a really epic song choice for this show. I had forgotten just how much of canon this covered in its one season - song choice and snappy editing really tied all that together!

Ooh. Awesome. I only know the live-action movies, but that was enough to stay glued to the screen through the whole thing, thanks to the editing here.

wow, this is fabulous. The editing is so sharp and tight and focused . . . it just grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go. And although it focused on all the explosions and fight scenes and such, it used all that to get at the deeper, more complex, more painful themes of the show - so, emotionally as well as visually engaging. Beautiful work.

This is great, surprisingly epic for what I thought was a kids cartoon. I could follow everything only knowing the movies / some comics, not this show. Especially like 1:16 timing, "open your eyes" for Scott, lead up to 3:11.

I wouldn't have though such a serious song would work for a cartoon show, but you really gave it a epic feel and showed the war. I loved all the character focus, even with such a large number of characters there were so many that were clearly recognizable and had their moments. Some of the lyric matches were so perfect, "die with dignity", the line about created weapons. Very awesome, I am in awe literally.

From: [personal profile] shallowness
I don't know this iteration of the X-Men, but it was still powerful to see the mutants stripped of their powers or facing enemies who had stolen them, and all their loss and will to continue to fight in their different ways. The way this vid matched the music and the contrast between the more quieter meditative bits and the louder action bits was well done.
