Lyrics
The waves crash in and the tide tide pulls out
It's an angry sea but there is no doubt
That the lighthouse will keep shining out to warn the lonely sailor
And the lightning strikes and the wind cuts cold through the sailor's bones, to the sailor's soul
Till there's nothing left that he can hold except the rolling ocean

CHORUS
But I am ready for the storm, yes sir, ready
I am ready for the storm, I'm ready for the storm

Oh give me mercy for my dreams
Cause every confrontation seems
To tell me what it really means to be this lonely sailor
And when you take me by your side you love me warm, you love me and
I should have realized I had no reason to be frightened

CHORUS

The distance it is no real friend
And time will take its time
And you will find that in the end it brings you me, the lonely sailor
But when the sky begins to clear and the sun it melts away my fear
I'll cry a silent weary tear for those that need to love me

CHORUS

Wow, that is beautiful! And I love the sailor/light house analogy for the astronauts and mission control.

Oh, this is gorgeous. Lovely and melancholy, taking me back to watching the film for the first time at 10 years old.

As others have said, this is a gorgeous vid to look at. In its power and beauty, it reminds me of [personal profile] destina's "To Touch the Face of God" -- it makes both human ambition and space seem so powerful.

Oh, how lovely! I love the control room as the lighthouse, and that it's the team frantically figuring out how to get a usable fix from components on hand who "love me warm" and mean that he had no reason to be frightened.

I've watched this several times now, and love it more each time. <3

Your song choice is impeccable -- sea and stars -- and the reading that "readiness" for a storm means only that one has done all the things one can do, mentally and physically, and not that one thinks one can "beat" the storm. (The sea, and the stars, are so much bigger than you are.)

...and in light of that, I approve mightily of your decision to end with re-entry, with everyone's fates still up in the air (hee!), instead of with splashdown.

Just gorgeous.

I loved this a lot! Perfect analogy and nicely restrained; a very strong emotional feel as the visuals meshed with the lyrics and the smooth, gentle music. (Which is new to me, and I really like - time to search out other works by this artist!)
