I did not know that there was a recording of Basil Rathbone reading the Starret poem. That alone might have killed me with feels, but add in all the beautiful JB and EH and DB... oof. A tremendous combination.

Aw, this was very sweet and gentle. I love how you used the Watson fainting moment from The Empty House especially - the way it's like he's dreamed Holmes alive again, as one of the fans who wanted him back. Lovely.

Oh, festividder, this is beautiful and lovely and full of FEELINGS and I love it <333 Thank you so much! I had no idea that there was a Basil Rathbone recording of this poem - but it's perfect, and has added whole meta layers of HOLMESness to this vid. You've used the source footage to illustrate the poem perfectly - the gas lamps, and fog and 'England is England yet'.

I love the use of the War footage, which makes it seem like this Holmes and Watson really are part of our world, even as the poem insists that they 'never lived and so can never die'. Such meta, wow :-) (I have meta thoughts, but can't articulate them just now because I am too full of love)

Oh oh and 'only those things the heart believes are true'<333333 That was PERFECT. Their FACES. THEIR FACES ARE SO GREAT.

Thank you so much!

Granada Holmes is my favorite incarnation, but to have the music and spoken word from other creations focusing on Sherlock Holmes just elevates it into some perfect stratosphere of combination. Such a beautiful melding of sources!

Oh, this was a lovely piece of work. Rathbone AND Private Life AND Granada, and not just Granada, but so many shots that recreated the Paget illustrations... A lovely multi-layered illustration of how these two have never died.

In addition to the Paget recreations, I especially enjoyed the quiet moments -- Holmes and Watson walking along together, having just scattered the boys who were messing about with the produce stand! -- and your bringing in outside source to concretize the turning-point of WWI (and the consequent nostalgia for 1895)...

As I said, it's a lovely piece of work.
