Hello, I'm back. And I will probably be back again, because every time I watch this I notice new, lovely things about it. I love the sense of quiet yet determined hope in the face of desperation, in this vid. It permeates the film, and you've captured it absolutely with your editing and your clip choices. I love all the quiet little moments of connection, and personal courage you've chosen - how advocating for change can mean marching with a flag, or returning to the home that rejected you, or simply putting another staple in the wall. Or all of those.

I love that this isn't in chronological order - that instead you've chosen to focus on the characters and their own journeys individually, and give each one the focus on their story that they deserve.

I love the focus on words and the visibility of those words - there are so many shots of posters and pamphlets and placards, sometimes flying proudly and sometimes ripped down and forlorn. Individually these are all really important little shots, but all together they are very powerful. (I always struggle to put things that aren't just shots of people emoting in my vids, which is why I could never make something as softly brilliant as this - all the focus on the words is necessary and important and I'm not being very coherent here, but I'm trying to say that I love it <3)
