Date: 2011-01-24 08:08 am (UTC)I see this comment and raise you: the editing of this is so miraculous, it's like being punched in the face by the baby Jesus. The flow of movement, the musicality, the cutting and pacing, the colours, the way you've compounded the film's edits with your own -- right, everybody, put your pens down and go home, it's all over. If I were even one clip away from finishing a Hot Fuzz vid, I would delete the whole file right now without remorse, that is how good this is.
Random highlights: the certificates flowing into the stabbing; the cutting of the Janine section, especially with the lowering of her head matched with the drooping of the peace lily; the train/taxi section mirrored in the cutting of the Castle Suite section; the succinct encapsulation of village life from Frank spreading his arms as if to showcase the empty evidence room to Danny crashing through the fence and Nicholas closing his eyes in resignation; the way you've cut Nicholas in the pub so that you can still tell what he's saying; the intercutting of the underage drinkers with the rest of Nicholas' time on duty; the intercutting of Danny's notebook with his ketchup trick; the Andes at 1:36; the intercutting of Webley's shed and the carnival shoot, especially 1:34-1:35 - Nicholas batting Danny's hand down and then handing him the gun puts me in mind of the pop-up targets; the continuous motion from 1:49 to 1:55 and the raffle spin intercut with the tower stairs; and just the incredible and energetic flow of everything from Nicholas making notes to the end. And the swan.
