This was really interesting. I hadn't seen all of the vids you were referencing, but I really loved how you pulled out all the visual and thematic echoes, and made these widely varied sources look visually coherent.

That was amazing!!! I love the conceit that carries through the vid and the way it references all these different fandoms, revolving around FatM at the central joyous fan but also the stand in for all the characters. I loved the way Cas works, esp in the falling scene. It's a tad HP heavy, but given that you had a limited fan source text of 14 (?) vids, that's still wonderfully widespread!!! The collection of images and movement and the central, theme of love are beautifully carried out. It didn't feel like 4 min ;)

I'm so so glad that you pulled out of it right away FatM as the central joyous fan & as the stand in for all the characters. That's exactly what I was going for... and then for the transitive element there, our identification with the characters. I wanted us to be both Cas hitting and Florence/River falling in that middle scene (which is my fav moment too).

There were 19 vids in the end that I used, plus 5 Florence & the Machine vids. There were some other crazy Cosmic Love horse vids that are immensely popular on YouTube and that I really wanted to incorporate but they would have changed what I/we mean by fan here.... (not that that's a new debate :D)

I'm so so glad that you got into this vid! It was torture not to get to show it to you while it was in process. <3

Hi! I'm so so glad that you liked the vid. I know that it wasn't what you were imagining, and I felt quite bad about that as I was making it, but your prompt entirely inspired the direction since you were talking about how FaTM is so popular in fandom, and once that seed was planted in my head I just couldn't let it go (or it wouldn't let me go!) I have half a mind to go back though and make you the vid you likely imagined, because I loved working with the music video footage and I'd meant to get into concert video footage too before this thing took on a life of its own.

But I'm so glad that it made you feel happy about fandom, because in the end that was my goal with the vid overall! Well--happy about fandom and FaTM and the merger of the two, of which I'm sure we've seen only the beginning.

Anyway, thank you for the inspiring prompt! This was my first festivid experience but definitely not my last!

This was very cool, kind of a meta-multifandom vid! I liked the way the thematic and visual elements used in the different sources were all brought together along with the original music videos.

Thank you! Meta-multifandom was exactly what I was going for. I was amazed by how many thematic and visual threads I found to follow through all the diverse Cosmic Love vids that are out there, and how many parallels there were between the fanvid imagery and the FaTM music videos. This was so much fun to make because I kept discovering all those connections!

Haha, thank you! When I first set out to make this vid, I was more thinking of Florence as the object of fan love rather than the fan herself, but when I saw that first juxtaposition of her exuberance next to a fanvid image, she just read so clearly as fan, reveling in all the source texts, that I knew I had to run with it. I had so much fun making this vid--very glad that you enjoyed it!

I love how meta this is, how it's about love for the song and for pairings, and how it's essentially a gen point of view on shipping, in my opinion.
