Oh I love this! I LOVE this song for Ree so much, both the lyrics and just the feel of it, and you've made a really great Ree character study, which is exactly what this movie is for me. <3 What she longs for is so little, really, but she still can't reach it; but she has such a rugged, blunt acceptance and determination about it all. I also love the little undercurrent of Ree/Gail as one of those things she longs for--whether you intend it that way or I just read it in because of the book, either way I like it! :) So many great little moments in this, like the contrast between her little sister reaching for the gun and then in school, her change in her expression with the military recruiter, and the overlays of the landscapes over her face at the end. It should be so bleak, but Ree also won't let it be bleak. I love her, and this!
