This is *so* beautiful! I'm so glad you chose to vid both of the movies. You've merged them seamlessly, and I wasn't sure if that was possible, what with Simone Simon's character changing so completely from one film to the next. THANK YOU.

Wow, this is GORGEOUSLY edited. I don't know the source but this was just beautifully ethereal and uncanny, and the lyric/music/clip juxtapositions were spot-on. Excellent and beautiful.

I love the dreaminess of this and the way you've matched motions to emphasize the similarity of Irena's and Amy's isolation and loneliness, and the different ways they're drawn to Oliver and confined by femininity/propriety, frequently as enforced by Alice. There is great delicacy in the way you've compared Irena's transgressive sensuality to Amy's nonsexual escapist imaginings without allowing one to spill into the other.

I haven't actually seen the sequel, so this was an interesting look at what I presume is a mother-daughter relationship.

This is gorgeous. I only know what I've read about these films and have only a vague idea what's going on in any given shot, but the atmosphere you create is so palpable. I'm deeply moved by this.

wow

This is haunting and beautiful. I love the mood you set and the parallels you draw. There's a real sense of awakening in this, of the power and mystery of the feminine.

I am a huge fan of both of these films and I have a lot to say about the disconnect between them from a production standpoint (RKO: "You're making a sequel, here's your title", Val Lewton: "Eff that noise") but let us stop and appreciate the way that you've linked the two disparate narratives of Amy and Irena using matching in framing and motion, all within the context a very haunting song. It's really gorgeous. I may need to flail at you, Festividder, after Reveals.
