Lyrics
Getaway
Let's leave today
Let's get away

So you say you try, but you just can't find the pleasure
People around you are giving you pressure
Try to resist all the hate that's all around you
If you taste it, it will haunt you

So come take me by the hand
We'll leave this troubled land
I know we can get away
Getaway

Watch all the signs that lead in the right direction
Not to heed them is a bad reflection
They'll show you the way to what you have been seeking
To ignore them, you're only cheating

So come take me by the hand
We'll leave this troubled land
I know we can, I know we can, I know we can, I know we can
Getaway
Let's leave today
Let's get away

Whatcha whatcha whatcha whatcha know?

Lay awake every night till the sun comes up in the morning
Never excited; it all seems boring
Make up your mind which way to go about it
Choose your road, just don't doubt it

So come take me by the hand
We'll leave this troubled land
I know we can, I know we can, I know we can, I know we can

This vid is why I love Festivids. One of the movies of my heart turned into a vid that I wouldn't have expected in a million, billion years. Karloff and Lugosi are funky! I just... the timing and the humor and the FUNK.

*flails at you* Thank you.

Karloff and Lugosi are funkier than we can ever know...

Thank you for requesting this source -- if you hadn't, I might never have heard of it, let alone watched it, and that would have been tragic.

This was so fun to watch! Earth Wind and Fire! To Classic Horror! I haven't watched the source, but I loved it.

OMG. This is awesome. I love unexpected song/source matches that are so obviously perfect once you see them, and this was perfectly delightful. <3

Thanks! <3

I googled for appropriate songs, and this appeared in the results. As soon as I heard the song, I knew I had no choice.

This is so much fun! Wheeee! I haven't seen the source, but it looks to me like Bela Lugosi starred in an early version of Rocky Horror? If that's not the case I DON'T WANT TO KNOW DIFFERENT. :D

Yeah, it's not a connection, I would have thought to make, but the similarities are numerous: young couple goes on trip to make wedding-related calls, vehicle craps out, take refuge from the storm in a sinister mansion inhabited by a strange individual who keeps popping into other people's bedrooms unexpectedly...

This is my takeaway also. \o/ A charmingly jaunty early version of Rocky Horror.

...With cats.

...With cats.

Only the last minute addition of bees kept my festivid showing this year from being an all-cat extravaganza. I am so predictable. *hangs head*

That is exactly the case. Just like Rocky Horror, except our hero is from western Hungary. ;)

Oh, ho! Funky! I found this utterly delightful even though I was completely lost. That song choice just bounces me along through the narrative and it's fun taking that ride.

Bwa ha ha! This is an impressive feat of editing. Awesome rhythm! Hilariously appropriate credits sequence. I laughed on 'Never excited; it all seems boring'.

If you've done one satanic ritual, you've done them all. I'm glad you liked those sequences; they were some of my favourites.

*flails more* There continues to be an awesome Black Cat vid to funk! It's still there! I am not dreaming it!

Oh man. I can't even begin to tell you. Like, I love this film very much and I'm very protective of it. I could go on and on about its themes and the battle for the soul and the Karloff-Lugosi dynamic, but I'm not so up my own ass that I don't realize that it has the potential to be kind of nutty and cheesy. And I really love what you did here with that, especially since it works so well, with the timing, from the hoods at the beginning, to the super-speed ending.

Also the cross-cutting between the two sacrifices, as it were, is brilliant. And the hand on the statue!

*flails more*

It took me a while to convince myself that this was not your way of subtly saying my vid had missed the point of the movie entirely. This is not possible: it includes both Béla Lugosi and Boris Karloff's faaaaaaces. I didn't mean to go silly (what, me? I would never!), but the music forced me. I really didn't have a say in the matter.

The hoods and the speeded up ending were some of the first things I plotted in this vid. And the shot with the hand on the statue exists; how could I vid this movie and not use it?! Both B&W sources I festividded this year made every shot I couldn't fit into the vids painful to leave out.

I was worried the cross-cutting was too confusing, and I messed with it last minute. I think the signed version fixes what I messed up, but let me know if I've ruined everything...

Er, yes, I can see how my comment could have been read that way? Sorry!

Okay, how's this for rephrasing: a really good vid can take something you know backwards and forwards and create a new context for it, such that you see sides of it you didn't even think were possible. This is one of those really good vids.

I don't have the unsigned version on hand to compare, but the signed version of the cross-cut sacrifices works very well!
