No matter what Kara does, she's not going to fit in on Earth. But so what?



So what if she slips up sometimes when trying to pass as a human? So what if she has not yet perfected the art of being a superhero the way her cousin has?



She can't be anything other than herself, so she supposes she might as well embrace it and declare that truth to the world. Everyone is gonna have to get used to it.

Cat: Oh.... So you're not up to his level yet.

Hank Henshaw: I don't trust aliens.

Kara: I started this. You have to let me stop it.



Alex: Kara risks her life to protect other people, and she is a hero.



Kara: It's not *her* fault that I decided to become Supergirl.



Alura's hologram: There is no correct path in life.



Kara: That was *my* choice.

James: No hero can save everyone. But a real hero never stops trying.



James: You being killed is not going to help anybody!



Cat: What is she going to do when she has to face a real threat? Oh, I know! She'll call her cousin.



James: You don't even need powers... to be a hero.

I'm so glad you liked this! I know the show hadn't started airing yet (but you had seen the leaked pilot) when you wrote your Dear Festividder letter. I know I didn't have much to go on, but I hoped maybe based on what you wrote that you'd essentially be just like me and not a huge fan of Winn and still liking James and really everyone else. :P I had a lot of fun making this. I appreciated your list of artists you liked because it made me think you have almost the same exact taste in music as me. LOL. I knew this song wasn't by anyone you "approved" but I hoped it wouldn't matter, anyway, and your guideline to do a female artist's song because of the female-empowerment theme of the show really helped me. I was *this close* to doing "Learn to Fly" by The Foo Fighters (maybe the cover by Anna Free) but then I thought "no, the vidder had so few requests, let's not do a guy's song if I can avoid it. This was the one thing asked." SO I kept playing my iPod on shuffle until I was reminded of THIS song and then I realized I could make this work lol.

Awww this is so fun and cute! I love the use of motion and the transitions really worked with that. I really liked the effect you used with showing Kara seeing James and Lucy kissing. And you get major bonus points with me for including that dialogue with Cat asking Kara to take off her blouse, OMG I DIED of squee!!! :D

Cat Grant said "Do me a favor and take off your glasses." GLASSES not "Blouse". You've made me not be able to think of the scene the same way again. ;) I think you and me should be friends, though. I like femslash. I see you also love Faberry and stuff. I'm going to follow you on tumblr asap. :P I don't know if you watch The Flash but I decided my newest crossover OTP (and I don't have many of those!!) is definitely Kara from this show here with Iris from that show. Femslash ftw.

Thank you! I feel a it self conscious participating in festivids sometimes because all these people make these PERFECT vids with no transitions or effects or any kind but my editing style always includes a little more than that, and I wonder if it's too much, going over-the-top, etc. So comments like yours really reassure me that at least SOMEONE appreciates what I was going for and maybe approved of my choices lol... :P I truly appreciate reading comments like yours.

Awesome, what a great tribute! You made excellent use of the physicality of Benoit's performance -- her "awkward girl" Kara vs the assured power of Supergirl. I loved how you highlighted her relationships with Alex, and her mother, and James. And above all her determination to BE SUPERGIRL, which is my favorite thing about the show. <3

I think you've captured exactly what I like about this show -- her determination to BE SUPERGIRL, I love that phrasing, and also her relationship with her mother is something I feel strong, strong feelings about. Maybe because in a small way I relate, having not seen my mother in approximately 8 years, but I think the whole trauma of Kara's experience is interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. I also really love how WELL Melissa Benoist plays awkward, I fell in love with her so hard on Glee even before this show but in this show she shines in both her roles, because she *is* so assured in her power when she puts on the cape and tights. She really is amazing. She plays it well. Your comment made me SO happy and made me feel like we should be friends, on tumblr or twitter or somewhere. :P Thanks again for leaving it.
