AHHH I love it!!! THE ENDING IS SO PERFECT I HAD ALLLLL THE FEELINGS :D :D :D It was so great how you went from Jackie Robinson (with all the references on the show) to the unbelievable Cubs win to Ginny pitching her no hitter game. And the signs were PERFECT, I looove them. Such a cool concept, I'm so glad this vid exists!

Oh man, what a vid. I don't even LIKE baseball, but Pitch magically infuses me with such intense emotions, and the history you've tied together (Jackie! Puckett! CUBS WIN! Ginny's no-hitter!) is just delightful.

I have a million feelings about baseball, and Pitch, and this song...what an amazing concept, so well executed!

As a longtime Twins fan, though, my favorite moment in the vid is of *course* Kirby Puckett (back when he still was so full of joy). Game 6! 1991! The noise I made when that clip came up scared the dog. ;)

No, srsly, you have NO IDEA the kind of self-restraint it took for me to not jump on this comment IMMEDIATELY, I am a LIFELONG Twins fan and I like, FLAILED at war_kitten as soon as I saw it and realized I couldn't respond for WEEKS XDDD

I am SO GLAD that someone else appreciated that clip because including it, and the length of it in that little section, were absolutely the most self-indulgent part of the vid for me, I'm THRILLED there are other Twins fans out there that it paid off for :DDD

I still remember coming in to grad school bleary-eyed after game 7 and a friend looking the same way; I said, "I was up watching--"

"The TWINS WIN!" she shouted, and that's how we realized we were both fans. Her sister lived in Minneapolis and went out in the middle of a blizzard to get us WS shirts.

One of these years, it *will* happen again!

Awwww!!! That sounds awesome! :D I was only an infant at the time, so the only memories I have are of the photos my dad has of me decked out in twins gear that is FAR too huge on me, sitting on his lap. We had the VHS tapes of the games from that series when I was growing up, though! In the vid, I actually ended up editing in the radio broadcast audio over the audio track that came with the video originally because "TOUCH EM ALL, KIRBY PUCKETT" is just so iconic.

I would say I have faith that we'll actually fix our pitching and middle infield and turn it around this year, or next, but...I've been a Minnesota sports fan for over two and a half decades now. Hope is for suckers, you will never know joy, go root for the Packers if you like winning, etc etc. Sigh.

AHHHHHH YOU MADE FANTASY REALITY!!! As a baseball fan, in addition to being a Pitch fan, this is just WONDERFUL. As a Jackie Robinson fan (as allowed in SF Giants fandom by decency, humanity, his sheer likeability, and also the explicit "Jackie Robinson Clause" -- a notable legal precedent to the "Sandy Koufax Clause")... As a Jackie Robinson fan, just DANG THAT IS SOME SWEET EDITING with all of that archival footage and your timing is beauuuutiful.

I am really intrigued by your structure with this -- starting with Jackie who is this pivotal figure whose experience reflects the best and worst about Americans and baseball, whose experience is the biggest before-and-after moment in all of baseball, and then taking a wide-shot at the history and joys of MLB past and present (hehehe Cubs!), and then narrowing in again on GINNY -- I think really captures the parallel of Jackie to Ginny, but also contributes to why this vid really (effortlessly) makes me feel like Ginny's story is non-fiction. How it FEELS non-fictional. It feels real. She feels real to me. Her narrative feels real to me.

Um and straight up KUDOS for working in A-Rod Centaur as a totally normal baseball and media thing that happened into the sequence on media coverage of Ginny.

This vid is just DELIGHTFULLY FUN x 0.330 (ok you know that's a stupid good vidding average right?)

Seriously, thank you for making this request, I already had this idea when I looked at fv letters and was like, "well probably no one who signed up for Pitch has my extremely specific Baseball Feels" but then it turns out YOU DID \o/ hooray!!

And now let me just say: goddammit, a GIANTS FAN XD You have no idea how long I spent trying to subtly paw around your internet presence that I could find in order to determine who your team was so I could try to slip in some nod to them—I saw you lived in Washington and was like, "I wonder if she's a Mariners fan???" But I eventually gave up. I'm sorry the Giants only ended up in it in the headline about the Giants & Dodgers move, alas. (Also lol now sorry that the Dodgers were a fairly over-represented team! XD)

I'm SO THRILLED that the structure & parallels of the narratives worked for you and felt real. I actually was a little nervous, and had a moment of serious self-doubt post-submission, because even though you DID request a baseball RPF crossover, I was just like, "oh no, will people think this is ENOUGH of a Pitch vid? Is this cheating, too much source from a non-requested fandom?" Only a moment though, it passed, because to me, this has ALWAYS been a Pitch vid—because it's the baseball RPF vid that someone who existed WITHIN the universe of Pitch would make. That's really how I approached it; within the universe of this show, this is the vid that got made for a baseball RPF request for Festivids 2016. (#meta) I had this in mind through all my clipping of the actual show in the last section—I really wanted to only use footage that, conceivably, would be findable on YouTube within the show's universe, to not break that effect.

And look, LOOK, you can't give me a lyrical line of "most guys today that women prize today are just silly gigolos," in the context of Professional Baseball In 2016 and expect me to NOT bring up ARod Centaur. You just can't. *g*

I actually got the idea for the vid while listening to one of my musical theater playlists, but the moment I knew I HAD to make the vid was when I found this cover of the song. I was like, "this is the perfect style and length for this vid, IT'S FATE, IT MUST BE DONE NOW" :D

this is so cool! I love how you weaved Ginny's story into our actual history, even though I know so little about MLB history that pretty much the only people I actually recognized were Jackie and Joe DiMaggio. Delightful!

One of the guys I work with is an enthusiastic baseball historian (has written about the Negro League teams, plays on a vintage baseball team) so I've developed a second-hand appreciation for the development of the sport. Even though I haven't watched Pitch I absolutely love this vid. As an archivist and trained historian I love it when history invades popular culture!
