I don't watch the Sarah Jane Adventures, and have never seen old Doctor Who, but this still made me misty-eyed with all the emotions it carries, with the sense of loss, and of carrying on, and of being all right anyway, of making your own world with your own strength and going forward with excitement while cherishing the past with fondness. It's a really lovely and touching portrait of an awesome woman.

Yes, I definitely wanted to get at some of the complexities of Sarah Jane - the ways in which she's not always all right, the loss, her feelings for the Doctor which are completely messed up - all of that combined with her joy and her nostalgia and her found family. I'm so thrilled that it came across in that way, that you got all that out of it. <3!
