This is freakin' adorable. I love the idea of using the "Friends" theme for this, because it makes the vid simultaneously ironic and sincere. That funny/serious tension is one of the things that makes Red Dwarf so beloved to me, and you totally capture it here. I feel warm and fuzzy now. I grinned for the entire two minutes.

Thank you for your kind comments! I was very stressed about this, because I read your brief and I was trying so hard to make a melancholy Lister vid and it was really HARD and I was obsessing about what was most important to someone who'd woken up to find the entire human race was gone... And I realized it was not having any friends. That dratted song popped into my head and I could not help myself. This vid just kind of spilled out, but at least I had managed something to submit!

Then I tried again to make the vid you'd asked for, and I got about halfway there (to the line "find an old fashioned girl") and on a whim I dropped in the clip of Rimmer in the wig... And thus your other vid turned into the Lister/Rimmer oddity that was my other submission. I'm not sure I managed to achieve the brief with that either, so I hope it wasn't too disappointing! I really enjoyed vidding for you :0)

Disappointing?!?! On the contrary, I was thrilled! Not just one, but two Red Dwarf vids, each capturing facets of the show I most love. I'm having a vid-viewing party at the end of the month, and I'll be showing them both. So there. :p

I'm so thrilled you liked them :o) Eek, I didn't mean to make it sound like this was not an enjoyable process (this is what comes from posting before I am properly awake, LOL) because I had the *best time* vidding Red Dwarf, after years and YEARS of loving the show. Your prompt was awesome and the stress purely self-inflicted by my own lack of creative flexibility. It was a good process to go through. I learned and grew! And even made my first maybe-a-little-bit-slashy vid ;o) Thank you for challenging me :o)

I'm glad that you had a good time! That's good to hear. I like to be challenged, myself, but it can feel more intense when you have a deadline hanging over you. I had an experience this year where I had to throw out the song I was planning to use and start over, with about three weeks to spare, so I know how it feels.
